Today we headed to the Amalfi Coast and a little town called Positano just about an hour and a half south of Naples. We travelled by train and then by car over roads that made the terrain in Tuscany seem safe! Matt was glad not to be driving.
It was breathtaking for the beauty and the terror- sheer 500-foot drop to the Mediterranean Sea! It is still hard for me to fathom the courage it took to undertake the building of such a road and then whole towns into the side of the cliffs...
It turns out that everyone we met who was native to the area had no plans to live any other place. Looking out at the Lego-like dwellings built right into the landscape and the deep turquoise water I can begin to understand why-
