May 1 (ANOTHER Italian holiday- Labor Day) and May 2-
The idea for our time in Tuscany (or I should say my idea) was one of rest and refueling from the tourist life. A time of outdoor refreshment and free play...
So our first 2 days here were spent leisurely. The boys played in the garden, we explored the "supermercato" in our nearest town, Figline Valdarno, and took a short hike up to a "castle" being built on the hill in front of us.
We were surprised by a thunder (& lightening storm) during our hike and had an impromptu time of ghost stories and games of "20 questions" at the castle...
But the biggest and best surprise of our arrival has been the FOOD! Our aguriturismo serves breakfast daily and dinner 3 nights a week. It is traditional Tuscan fare and divine- some of the best food we have had on the trip (and that is crossing a very high bar).
There is so much beauty to see here- Day 3 will begin our exploration of Etruscan towns-

You all look right at home there in Tuscany. We are happy to see the children running around outside. We know that there is a universal language with children in their sweet smiles and their laughter and I suppose all children from other countries play "chase". It looks like fun for all. Kel, I just learned that in some countries Mother's Day may be called "Mothering Day." That sounds appropriate too. Enjoy your day tomorrow. I hope that your voice has returned. All is well here.
